THE WHISKIES OF SCOTLAND. London: John Murray. viii + 164pp. 8¼x5¼ B/w maps. This book is considered one of the standard works on whisky, dealing with both malts and blends.

THE SCHWEPPES GUIDE TO SCOTCH. Sherborne: Alphabooks, 1983 1st ed. 416pp B/w dwgs by Peter Haillay (mainly of distilleries) plus maps. Good book which deals with all aspects of whisky, with a great deal of historical and corporate detail. A book for every whisky library.
Hardback and paperback editions were published simultaneously.

THE MAKING OF SCOTCH WHISKY. A History of the Scotch Whisky Distilling Industry. Edinburgh: James & James, 1981 304pp + 16pp col plates. Numerous b/w photos, dwgs. Maps to end papers. This book is considered to be one of the most important book published on whisky. Derek Cooper says "The most detailed and comprehensive economic and social history ever written of the whisky industry. Essential reading for the enthusiast." While Phillip Hills states "This is by far the most detailed and scholarly history of Scotch. In places almost unreadable, it is never the less indispensable for what it says and for its references." The book was published to commemorate the centenary of Bruichladdich Distiller, Islay, 1881-1991.

Some the statistical information has been updated, and some detail of changes in the industry are also noted. The comprehensive listing of all known distilleries has been revised.
WHISKEYS OF IRELAND. Dublin: O'Brien Press, 2002. 160pp. Col illus. The author discusses the history of Irish whiskey and the correlation with Irish history. How Irish whiskey is made, blends and malts. He also explains and explores the different flavours of the whiskey.
