BOOKMONGERY

Over the years I have acquired many books from various places and in various ways. Job lots of beverage books often contain book= s on subjects that bear no relation to alcoholic drinks and as a frequenter of many a bookshop I have often bought books because they appealed to me at = the time. It is now time to try to find these books a good home. They will co= ver a cornucopia of subjects and hopefully you will find something that inter= ests you. It will take some time to build up this list, so please remember to visit this page on a regular basis.

East Malling Research Association. MEMBERS DAY REPORT. A= series of small booklets covering matters dealt with at meetings held for member= s. Although the reports are quite short they are very detailed and of a technical nature. An example is given for each booklet. Most have b/w illustrations. All are 8¼x5¾ with card covers and are VG+. =

Grayson, R. [Pseu= d. of Richard Grindal]. THE WHISKY MURDERS. London: Victor Gollancz. 1984 1st edition. 192pp. 8x5¼ Grindal's second whisky flavoured novel. Involves a murder in Portugal, a confidence trick in Texas, a body wa= shed up on the Galloway coast and a walking holiday in the Highlands. These apparently random events have one thing in common, a fine malt whis= ky. Bumped to head of spine otherwise VG+ in dw. Book No.805. £12.00

Hildesheim, Germany: Georg Olms, 1968.= Three volumes. lv + 484p= p; xx + 519pp; xviii + 471pp. 9x5¾ B/w illustrations to volume 1. The first volume is a biography and the other two volumes are a collection of his writings. These writings are an interesting insight into the social histo= ry of the 18th century. A TOUR IN SCOTLAND and Voyage to the Hebrides 1772. <= st1:place w:st=3D"on">Edinburgh: Birlinn, 1998. xxiii + 7= 91pp. 8½x5½ With 88 full page b/w engravings of scenes, fauna and= a few maps. Introduction by C.W.J. Withers. Rep= rint of a book first published in two parts in 1174 and 1776. The journal of h= is second tour of the region. This book is full of contemporary detail of the landscape, architecture, history and local customs of the places visited. Although the title only mentions Scotland= , it also includes sections on Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumberland, Westmoreland, Northumberland, Durham and Yorkshire. Also several interesting appendices. Paperback. Title page missing and so= me minor creasing to top corner of about 200pp otherwise a excellent working copy. Book No.= 803. £2.75
