is known as the Father of California Viticulture, and the first edition of =
this
important book was published in 1862. This item is not a reprint of the
complete book that had 420 pages and included 85 illustrations. This is a
reprint of the first part of his book that detailed his trip to the world's
vineyards, plus a chapter on Grapes and Vines in <st1:State w:st=3D"on"><st=
1:place
 w:st=3D"on">California</st1:place></st1:State>. However according to detai=
ls I
have this part of the book run to 160pp. It appears to be a facsimile copy =
with
nothing missing from the main text, and I can only assume that the shortfal=
l is
down to the 12 pages of the <span class=3DSpellE>prelimaries</span> that ha=
ve not
been included and the omission of most of the illustrations. The rest of the
original <span class=3DGramE>edition not included in this reprint are</span>
translations, and extracts from other books by various authors. It is an
interesting and important book and is good value. Original editions are sca=
