Most of the new books listed can be obtained from either The Book Depository, Pickabook or Play. I am an affiliate of these companies and they offer a good selection of current whisky books. Which company you use depends on what type of book you are looking for, or more precisely how much the book is or how many books you wish to buy? Please read the following to help you to decide which the best site to buy from.  

 

   Have a good range of books and offer discounts up to 40% and all orders are post free. This includes most overseas orders.

 

 

Have a reasonable range of books and offer a good discount, usually 33%, but they charge postage unless order exceeds £15. Best for more expensive books or orders for several books.

 

 

Have a more limited range usually the more popular whisky titles at discounts up to about 25%, but all orders are supplied post free. Best for low value books, or books with a order value of less than £15. They also offer books from third party sellers via their Play Trade scheme.

SCOTCH WHISKY 1890. An Article from The Illustrated London News. Dagenham: Barrel to Bottle Press, 2007. Frontis + 7pp + 7pp b/w illustrations including 5 full page. Reprint of an article that appeared in the 30th of August 1890 edition of The Illustrated London News. Features the Glenlivet Distillery and the Royal Brackla Distillery, the premises of Andrew Usher and Co., the whisky making process and some commercial detail. It is not a facsimile reprint, however the text has not been amended, but the excellent woodcut illustrations have been reduced in size. Interesting journalists view of the whisky industry in the late 19th Century. The article is mentioned on pages 153/4 of Charles Craig's The Scotch Whisky Industry Record [Dumbarton: Index Publishing, 1994]. Card covers. VG+. Book No.849. £3.50

CLASSIC EXPRESSIONS have announced three more titles that they are planning to reprint. They are Truths About Whisky [1878], Notes on Alcohol in Brandy, Whisky and Rum by Sir Walter Gilbey [1904] and the first in a series of Distillery Pamphlets by Alfred Barnard dealing with Dalmore.
